Badlands - An ultracycling race in southern Spain's wilderness aims to change the region

Nathalie takes part in “Badlands”, one of the most demanding gravel bike races in the world, which takes place annually in the breathtaking but challenging landscape of southern Spain. But this event goes beyond sporting feats.

David, co-founder of the race, has a bigger goal: he wants to draw attention to the pressing problems of the region. His aim is to stem the rural exodus, revive awareness of the neglected culture and protect the landscape, which has been severely affected by climate change.

While Nathalie reaches her limits on the way to her goal, David pursues a long-term vision. With his commitment, he wants to bring about sustainable change and raise awareness of the challenges facing the region. Both are driven by the ambition to achieve their goals - Nathalie is on the brink of success, but David still has a long way to go to achieve the change he longs for.
